Katheryn Wiedman, Ph.D.
President

Katheryn Wiedman, Ph.D., (formerly Heidrich) is CenterPoint Institute’s founder and president. Her areas of expertise include facilitation, planning, governance, research, and project management. She says that consulting work is surprisingly creative work; “Each client is unique. They give us opportunities to stretch and that’s what makes the work fun!”

When Katie looks back over the past 18 years of consulting work, she revels in telling stories of challenges, teams pulling together, clients making difficult and bold decisions, and adventures in various parts of the nation and the world. Get her going, and she will share tales of facilitating an international meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, helping plan Salzburg Seminars in Austria, working with a Chicago organization to re-invent itself, and translating abstract foundation program goals into reality. She has written governance training curricula for national organizations, a book on working with volunteers in corporate recreation programs, and numerous articles, publications, and reports.

Katie began her career as a high school English teacher followed by 15 years in camping and outdoor education. After completing her doctoral degree at the University of Illinois, Katie launched CenterPoint Institute – first as a solo consultant, then building the practice to its current configuration. It should be noted, however, that outdoor pursuits and travel have great power to pull Katie away from her desk.
